We can declare that nothing ever goes right and just give up!
Or we can look for the positives, make the most of the situation and carry on.
I was on a Hawaiian cruise a few weeks ago and my daughter was very ill with the flu. If you’ve ever been on a cruise, you will probably know that if somebody has the flu, they are quarantined to stop it spreading all around the ship.
This meant that instead of exploring the Hawaiian islands or chilling by the pool sipping cocktails, we were stuck in our tiny indoor cabin with no windows (I think my exact words on booking were ‘there’s no point upgrading, we’ll hardly be in the cabin- if only I’d known).
So, we had a choice.
We could declare that our holiday was ruined and sit in our cabin being miserable or we could make the best of the situation… And that’s what we did.
We got dressed up...
…got plenty of food, drink and silly games and had a quarantine party! It ended up being great fun. We laughed so much and my little girl even brightened up!
So, if you are facing a difficulty or disappointment right now, how can you make the best of it? Will you focus on the negatives or will you find the tiny glimmer of sunshine and focus on that instead?
Sometimes things happen that are out of our control but it is always up to us how we choose to react to them. Will you react in a way that is helpful to you and your goals or in a way that is destructive?
